One of the things we love the most about Xerox is that the company is always looking for ways to make life easier for their customers. Sure, that’s what most decent companies (presumably) are always trying to do, but Xerox tackles even those small, seemingly inconsequential inconveniences and does their best to stamp them out. It’s really great, and it’s something only a company that truly listens to their customers could manage to do.

One such inconvenience that Xerox has come up with an excellent solution for is how you can log in to your apps on your MFP. Instead of typing in your credentials, you can now simply scan a QR code using your smartphone. This optional, free feature is called Xerox Mobile Login.

Let’s take a closer look at how it works:

If you use Xerox apps on your MFP, such as any integration “connector” type apps like Connect for Exchange, or Xerox Workplace software, and so on, you already know that in order to use these apps securely, you have to log in.

While the display screen on any modern, ConnectKey-enabled Xerox MFP is actually quite lovely to use—it’s like a high quality tablet—remembering a username and password while standing in front of your printer isn’t quite as lovely. And even if you do know it by heart, you still have to type it in.

This eats up valuable time out of your day, perhaps multiple times per day. The Xerox Mobile Login feature allows you to simply scan a QR code using your smartphone, which will automatically log you in (assuming you are authenticated on your phone, which typically only needs to be done once). This is a faster alternative to typing in your credentials, but just as secure.

Like the Authentication System You Already Have in Place? You Can Keep It

The Xerox App Mobile Login feature is totally optional. If you prefer to leave your existing credential-based login system in place, you’re more than welcome to do that. Even if you don’t use a credential-based authentication system (card-based, or PIN-based, for example), you can continue to use that as well, as some users may find authentication cards easier, or not allow smartphones in the office. Of course, if you do want to try out Mobile Login, it’s a free feature—so try it out if it sounds like something that would improve your team’s workflows.

While it’s true that Xerox, on occasion, rolls out features and products that are “big,” as we mentioned, Xerox does a lot to make your day-to-day operations easier.

We recently wrote about a great example of this in our article Does Your Office Use Microsoft Exchange? Here’s How To Scan-and-Send Quickly Using Your Xerox MFP, which details how to integrate your Microsoft Exchange account with your Xerox MFP for easy scan-and-send functionality. It’s not a huge feature, but it’s a big time saver and certainly would land high up on any workplace’s list of “nice-to-haves.” (It’s also compatible with Xerox Mobile Login).

Little improvements like this have big payoffs in aggregate, in terms of ease-of-use and productivity. If you’d like to learn more about getting set up with Xerox technology in your workplace, we invite you to contact us now or request a free online quote.
