Whether you use a standard copier or multifunction printer, problems can arise at any time. You likely know a few ways to troubleshoot errors on a printer, so here are a few common copy machine issues and how to resolve them.
Spots on Pages
Spots are often the result of one of two things. Either the drum is worn out or the scanner mirror has dirt on it. You will need to either replace the drum or clean the mirror in order to get clear pages once again.
Problems With Toner or Cartridges
Running low on toner can create problems, but getting a fresh supply is all you need to remedy the situation. You need to make sure you get the correct cartridge that will work with your specific device. Additionally, make sure you recycle your old cartridges.
Lines on Pages
Lines on a piece of paper can really damage an otherwise great picture. Again, dirty scanner mirrors are sometimes to blame, so you will need to clean them thoroughly. Other culprits can include the developer unit, drum blade or fuser, so have a professional inspect your machine to see if any of those components require replacement.
Many times, a copier or printer will be working as good as new with a simple repair. You can even acquire a multifunction printer that will serve as both devices for you.
