On occasion, decision makers from businesses or organizations will come to us in need of an office technology upgrade—they ask, “What sets Xerox apart from other brands?”
There are plenty of good answers to that question, but the one that really sticks out is this: modern Xerox multifunction printers are highly customizable. In most cases, this is thanks to the device’s compatibility with Xerox’s ConnectKey technology, which is the platform that enables an MFP to access additional software from the Xerox App Gallery as well as integrate with third party cloud storage providers like Dropbox, Google Drive, or Microsoft OneDrive (among others).
This means that, thanks to apps and other integrations, the degree of personalization offered by Xerox’s MFPs is impressive, to say the least.
However, these devices have plenty of built-in customization options too—so we’d like to take a moment today to explore a few of them. We’ll begin with the screen you’ll see most often: the Home Screen.
How to Customize Your Xerox MFP’s Home Screen and Feature List
Ever found yourself scanning the numerous icons on your device’s home screen to find the one function you use frequently? With a VersaLink Xerox MFP, these wasted moments aren’t necessary—you can customize your home screen by simply scrolling to the bottom, selecting “customize”, and then moving the icons around to your preference. It’s very similar to how you would do it on your mobile device.
In addition to customizing the home screen, a modern Xerox MFP even extends this customization to the individual feature list within specific applications like the copy or fax functions. Navigate to the desired app, scroll down, and tap “Customize”, then “Feature List”. At this point, you’ll be able to rearrange the features displayed according to your preference. For instance, if two-sided copying is a daily task, move it to the top of your list and save yourself the hassle of searching for it each time.
If you’re logged in with your Xerox Simple ID, your personalized settings remain just that—personal to your login, meaning that you won’t experience interference with other users, or “mess up” their settings on accident.
How to Start Saving Time By Using the Personal Favorites Feature of Your MFP
Let’s explore how you can start saving time using the Personal Favorites feature of your MFP. This practical feature allows you to create favorites in apps that support it, most notably, the email app.
Start by logging in with your Simple ID, navigate to “Contacts”, and then look for the tab labeled “Favorites”. Here, you can add contacts to your favorites list, which is very handy whenever sending a document to yourself or anyone else, including scanned documents, documents saved locally on the device, or those within your cloud storage provider platform of choice.
This feature, like the customizations mentioned earlier, is exclusive to your Simple ID, so your favorites list remains strictly personal to you. In an office where multiple individuals are reaching out to varied contacts, this feature can significantly streamline the emailing process.
